
Uzair Baig lives in Markham, Ontario with his wife and son. He completed his Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Oxford and Bachelors in Engineering from the University of Toronto. He was selected to represent Canada at the World Energy Council He is a leader, volunteer, and advocate of climate change and transition to a green economy.
At the World Energy Council, Uzair researched technologies to support the transition to a green economy. Through his recent work at Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC) in Calgary, he advised small businesses to be more profitable by creating more jobs for the local economy. He has improved the energy footprint of small businesses by creating incentives to retrofit equipment under Save On Energy in Ontario. While working for British Columbia Hydro, Uzair developed programs to create positions in businesses dedicated to environmental and energy management. As an executive member at the council at his son’s school, he advocates for a safer and improved education for the students through this pandemic. He also understands the importance of international relations through education and works in emerging markets.
As a Member of Parliament, he can address some of the most pressing concerns Canadians are experiencing today. These include affordability in housing, impact on small business due to the pandemic, climate change and increasing investments in the Green economy such as choices for clean energy, green transport and others. These issues require critical thinking and analytical approach to solutions, which Uzair encompasses. He is a strong supporter of small businesses and understands the economic impact of the pandemic. He advocates the need for financial support from governments to support small businesses by levelling the playing field with corporations. He also advocates investments in indigenous lands through mandates to the pension funds.
Through his journey from high school in Ontario to working across Canada, he has exemplified the values of working for causes that align with the Green Party of Canada such as equality, climate action and supporting small businesses.
