What the Green Party Is All About, and Why It's Time to Vote Green
The change to a green way of life depends on each of us putting our votes where our values are. Values like sustainability, respect for diversity, ecological wisdom, non-violence, social justice, and participatory democracy--the six fundamental principles of the Green Party of Canada. The Markham-Unionville Greens live and promote these values by strengthening the Green Party's federal and provincial riding associations in our electoral district.
While the Green Party of Canada and the Green Party of Ontario are separate organizations, they are working for common goals. Federal parties' riding associations are called Electoral District Associations (EDAs) while Ontario provincial parties' riding associations are called Constituency Associations (CAs). EDAs and CAs are made up of local party members. They are organized and function through the efforts of those serving as officers and volunteers. Our associations nominate and support Green Party candidates in our ridings, ensure that organizing continues between campaigns, and maintain a Green Party presence and activities.
We invite you to look through this site, participate in our local events, volunteer, contribute, and join the Markham-Unionville Green EDA and CA by becoming a member of both the Green Party of Canada and the Green Party of Ontario. Together, we can, and we must, make economically and ecologically integrated solutions the political reality in our riding, our province, our country, and our world.
